HIDES
for the car industry
CARE FOR DETAILS
One's first impression
of a car is based on its interior components, such as the dashboard,
the console and the door panels. They immediately convey a pleasant
sense of comfort, solidity, luxury or sportiness. In fact, they
are the result of choices in materials, techniques and very
precise processes which aim to achieve the desired effect.
As an expert in manufacturing hides by slush technology, ILPEA
constantly carries out research on materials and processing
in order to obtain a higher quality finish, lower fogging and
better weather resistance while optimising costs and assuring
that every effort is made to increase environment friendliness
and recycling (12 international patents). |
|
In order to reduce the costs and facilitate recycling, ILPEA manufactures
hides with a controlled degree
of gloss which do not require surface paint. Through a special mould
treatment ILPEA is in a position to
manufacture double-gloss hides used for top class cars.
In addition, ILPEA has developed two-coloured hides with bulk-coloured
PVC powders ( world-wide
patented) and hides made of new PVC-free materials such as TPO,
TPU and Polyesters.
The technique using foamed PVC, TPO and TPU is based on the double
slush process which forms
hides with a compact and foamed layer (worldwide patented).

During this process the rigid carriers can be formed by free casting
thermosetting Polyurethane onto
the foamed layer and then shaped by punching. Through the double
slush process, hides incorporating
the foamed layer are obtained by using only one material (mono-material
concept), thus avoiding the
foaming step.
This results in cost reduction and improvement of the technical
features of the product, such as weight
reduction and facilitation of recycling. AUDI, VW, SKODA, SEAT,
PEUGEOT, RENAULT and VOLVO
use ILPEA’s hides for several of their car models.
