PROFILES
for the car industry
FUNDAMENTAL FOR THE CAR STYLING
ILPEA has considerable expertise in developing car
profiles and is aware that these profiles are required
to have both a pratical function, such as protection, and an aesthetic
funcfion in that they often act to
accentuate the car styling. Therefore, accuracy is extremely important
not only for the manufacture
of the components but also for the aesthetic finish
ILPEA takes these requirements into
account from the earliest stage of the project and suggests
the materials and techniques to be used for a specific purpose.
ILPEA manufactures extruded profiles and completes them by either
co-injection moulding or over-injection moulding and painting.
Materials such as Polypropylene, PP/EPDM, SEBS, rigid and soft
PVC are used in these processes.
These materials may be appropriately compounded with various
types of mineral fillers and fibres according to the technical-aesthetic
features required. One of ILPEA's most important innovations
consists in extruding profiles with a controlled surface grain
ranging from glossy to mat (lLPEA know-how) and a special clip
system for assembling them onto the car (patented worldwide).

ILPEA's range of profiles includes: windshield frames,
flocked side window mouldings, body side mouldings,
sill plates, drip-rail trims, roof mouldings, bumper trims and weatherstrips.
Leading worldwide car manufacturers such as AUDI, VW, SEAT, GM and
FORD have long recognized the
quality of these ILPEA products. Furthermore, ILPEA is capable of
producing profiles by the PU-RRIM
technology, which is used at the ILPEA plant situated in the Barcelona
area.

Industrie ILPEA España has one of the
most
modern automated stepless painting plants in Europe.
The plant is capable of painting both plastic and
aluminium profiles in body work colours. The painting process
consists of the following phases:
- alkaline washing and spraying with cleaning fluid, double
washing in water and hot air drying;
- painting by spraying in sequence: primer, a double layer
of colour paint and finishing lacquer.
Infrared drying is used. The whole process is carried out
in a low pressure, humidified environment and at a controlled
temperature.
At this plant chrome plating of aluminium
profiles is also possible.
